I think it is really important to have the option of taking an intro to coding class in high school. If you take the class and introduce yourself to coding, you could end up liking and wanting to do it as a career. I think it also cements your basic understanding of how code works. Not all languages are the same, but the basics are very similar. In high school, I think the personalized help from the teacher helps a ton. It helps the students get into coding without getting overwhelmed and giving up. I really like this class because it gives you the creative freedom to do whatever you want with your website. As long as you can learn and put the code into effect. I have tried learning code on my own at home but it is a lot more difficult than having a teacher walk you through the steps of making something awesome. I think this class will help me a ton in my career path, which is computer science.

I think I did really well for my first page of my first website. I hit almost all the requirements, except the serif font for my content. I think the website looks great, the colors are just a little boring though. I didn't have a favorite part because it was all fun. The readability on some of the links was sub-par and I will change the color scheme a tiny bit.
The main color for my logo is brown and some of its many shades. This color doesn't represent anything in particular. It is just the color of the dog I chose. The hex code for it is "#8b4513".
My original tagline is going to be "Just a dream". The website is going to be about a fictional story, that is lived in the brain of a sleeping dog. The navigation icons share bits of what is going to happen in the story. The cat being in jail and then an escape from somewhere. It reveals the themes of the story but not too much. In my opinion the rendering process was easy. That is mostly attributed to the great teaching from Mrs. Candela. She really walked us through all the tools, and helped me when I needed it. The one thing I hated about it though, was putting the text in. It is super annoying to drop the text and start typing. For every text you see on screen I had to put the text box in about 3 times. I definitely feel that I knocked Candela's socks off. I rate my work a 5 out of 5. In my opinion, the most important thing in having your website readable is using highlights, lists, and images. I think making it easier for readers to get all the information they need in a quick glance is more beneficial then having them read through a whole paragraph. As the article said, most people don’t read website word for word. So small highlights would give info, and if there is interest based on the highlighted word/phrase. Then maybe they read the whole website. I don’t know what I struggle with the most right now because we haven’t done much yet. But I suspect I will learn very soon.
⚊ My website title will be “A terrifying nightmare”.
Dreams are where we live our fantasies, but sometimes our biggest fears. Dogs are one animal that can dream. This is important because that is what the website is about, a dog’s dream about his biggest fear. Losing his toy supplier. A pet is a domestic animal that is cept for companionship. Pets are important because when you don’t have anyone to turn to to can turn your best friend that will never leave you. It’s important because they can be a good source of joy and happiness. I don’t personally have a pet, but from asking my friends I can tell they are an important part in their lives. The theme for this contest is “love those pets”. We have to make a website based on pets/animals. You can spin the theme in any way you think would be best for you. I have chosen to make mine a short story. My website will be about a dog that is dreaming about his live. It is going to be an alternate reality, where he thinks that a cat is getting him his toys. But then his owner finds out and “arrests” the cat. Stopping the supply of toys. The toys in this case represent drugs and this dog is addicted. He tries to get his friend out of “jail”. And the story kicks off. The second and third pages will have the story. The fourth will be credits and what I’ve learned from the class.
The coolest element in my opinion is the blue skies. It makes the skies look so much better with just a click. Four things that non professional photographers struggle with is, keeping track of their pictures, making pictures look better, presentation, and sharing those pictures. In the quick fix menu, 3 ways to apply fixes are: 'auto' button, thumbnail previews, and sliders. Saturation is the intensity of a color, and hue is the color. In this tutorial we learned how to fix up pictures very lightly. We learned the auto fix option, and how to do it manualy. We also learned how to select certain areas and edit those areas only. The quick tool isn't always quick because if you don't want to use the auto function, you can spend a lot of time fine tuning your picture. Maybe it should be called "simple fix" because in this menu you are only really doing small changes to the pictures. Will we learn how to add edit pictures to make them look totally different? I'm thinking of adding a police hat to a pet, things like this. 3 shortcuts are- Ctr+D(deselect everything), Ctr+Z(undo), Ctr+(-/+)(zoom in/zoom out) |
